Top 5 Comedy Movies
1. The Hangover
This film is absolute genius; all the main characters are as important as each other and bounce off each other so well. The character Alan is played so well and is probably the most hilarious character in the film, when he asks the receptionist if Caesar’s palace is the real Caesar’s palace, its classic. Bradley Cooper’s character is probably the coolest guy ever, this movie is one that you’ll never forget and is hilarious start to finish.
2. Superbad
If any film captures what teenage life is like this is it, this film seen the birth of the character “Mclovin”, the best seen is when one of the main character’s acquires a period stain on his leg after dancing with some girl, amazing. This film is set to be a cult classic with a very 70’s feel to it although very much set in the present.
3. Old School
This film is simply amazing, this great piece of nostalgia boasts the exploits of ‘Frank the Tank’, this film just makes you want to join a fraternity and get wasted. Honestly this is a must see!!
4. Van Wilder Party Liaison
Ryan Reynolds at his best, very similar to the role he played in Two Guys and a Girl, “Berg”. Like Old School this makes me want to go back to university and get wasted and party. This film is bags of fun from start to finish and we can see how Reynolds managed to do so well for himself off the back of this film.
5. Dodge ball
This film took a couple of watches for me to like it, but as silly as it is, it is an absolute riot, Rip Torn’s character Patches O’Hoolihan is the highlight of the movie and pretty much everything he says if funny, this film is like fat food for the brain, it might not be good for you but it is good.

Top 5 Action Movies
1. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
This WW2 epic directed by Steven Spielberg was a masterpiece and something that has never seen before. Spielberg brought to life on screen the d-day landing in France that would lead to the liberation of Europe from the clutches on Nazi Germany. The opening scenes of the allied troops being cut down by German machine guns were both shocking and vivid to the true events. The film gained a great deal of praise for its accuracy by veterans.
2. Avatar (2009)
This sci-fi broke so many record it hard to keep count; James Cameron’s film was truly excellent. A film about a Marine needed to take the place of his scientist brother on the unforgiving planet of Pandora. Here this young marine must take control of an avatar of the local tribe the Navi to infiltrate them and find out their weaknesses to benefit the invading human forces, but the Navi will not go down without a fight.
3. Terminator 2 Judgement Day (1991)
This classic, was probably the only sequel better than the original, it seen the evil terminator return as the good guy and protector of John Connor against the new and improved T-1000. Some of the greatest action sequences seen that decade.
4. The Matrix (1999)
This record breaking film was an original, introducing bullet-time giving a whole new aspect to action films. Unfortunately this great story was not carried on very well in the sequels the Matrix Reloaded and Revelations. Great scene at the end when Neo and Trinity storm the office building.
5. Aliens (1986)
Another of James Cameron’s work, action packed sequel to the more horror-esque Alien. This sees a group of Marines sent in to rescue a group of colonists only to find they have came to a gritty end to the hands of the Aliens, now the marines must fight for their survival and escape the planet.
